Preschool Gives Science Lesson to 5th Graders
Students in 5th grade recently teamed up with our smallest students to conduct a science experiment. The experiment was to help students learn how proteins interact with one another. The preschool students were in charge of the experiment, which they demonstrated to the 5th graders. "We've been studying colors and how they blend," states Mrs. Short, Preschool teacher. "This was a perfect opportunity for our kids to demonstrate what they've learned. The older students were quite impressed."
The lesson began by having the younger students pour a small amount of milk into a dish. Step two is to add a few drops of food color to the dish. Students then dipped a cotton swab in dish soap. The students made predictions as to what would happen to the colors and watched the results. Mrs. Short explained that the reason these colors move as they do is because of the interaction of the molecules in the milk and the dish soap.
