1st Grade Meet The Author
Once again, some of our smallest readers turned their skills into being authors in the Annual 1st Grade Meet the Author event. During quarter 3, students have been learning about animals, their habitats, and how they flourish. Students each chose the animal they wanted to feature in their book.
After all of their research, students began to write about what they had learned. They wrote about the animal's habitat and diet. The books had to include several sections. There was a table of contents, a How To page, a Fascinating Facts page (facts from the book they were reading and from the internet), a Diagram of the animal, a Different Kinds page (which included real photographs and labels of different types of that animal), and a Meet the Author page.
When the big day came, each of the classes visited the other's Meet the Author event. Parents and guests were in attendance as well. The proud authors shared their stories and signed autographs, now that they are famous. "These little guys were so proud of their hard work, and we are proud of them! They did a wonderful job," stated Mrs. Friel.
