March Madness Book Style

If you are a basketball fan, you likely live and breath March Madness.  While we all enjoy a little basketball competition, our kindergarten through 2nd grade students classes found a new kind of March Madness to take part in:  The 1st Annual March Book Madness.  "This was a fun way to get kiddos excited about reading towards the end of the year," stated Mrs. Generally, 1st grade teacher.

Each day the students listened to two different books being read aloud by their teachers.  After enjoying the stories, the students voted for which book they liked the best.  The following day the winning book was revealed.  The students listened to 16 books in total.  The last two books were entered into a championship round.  The two final contenders were Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon and Giggle, Giggle, Quack.  It was a close competition between to awesome books, but there can be only one winner.  The Champion Book of 2019 was Giggle, Giggle, Quack by Doreen Cronin!  If you would like to take a listen to this favorite of our students, check it out here:  Giggle Giggle Quack Read Aloud
